How Does Polymeric Matting Work?

CC Matting uses a specially formulated polymer compound with a non-migratory plasticiser. This creates a naturally tacky, slightly flexible surface that captures particles carried by shoes, trolley wheels and other equipment.

As personnel and equipment pass over the mat, the surface makes contact with contaminants and retains them. Short-range molecular attraction, including Van der Waals forces, contributes to the particle retention mechanism.

The manufacturer reports particulate retention of up to 99% over six steps, providing an additional contamination control measure at entrances and transition points.

Biomaster™ Antimicrobial Technology

CC Matting incorporates Biomaster™ antimicrobial technology into its polymer formulation. This technology is designed to inhibit microbial growth on the mat surface, including certain bacteria, fungi and moulds.

As an integral part of the material, the antimicrobial additive provides ongoing surface protection throughout normal product use. It complements, rather than replaces, routine cleaning and established infection control procedures.

Performance and Durability

CC Matting is designed to maintain its particle-capturing performance under repeated foot traffic. According to the manufacturer, its polymeric surface remains effective after eight repeated contacts in the same location, whereas conventional peel-off mats may lose effectiveness more quickly.
